World Chefs provides meals open stage 21 June
Wereldkoks Nijmegen will provide the meals on our opening day of June 21 at our open stage Affection on the Duivelsberg (5.30 p.m.+).
Affection on the Devil’s Mountain is led by troubadour Ben Dirks and Helma Mollenkomp and is intended as a festive conclusion to the first pilgrimage day of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom. The 75 first pilgrims ever to make a ‘walk of wisdom’ will be waved goodbye at 12.30 pm from the Stevens Church under the guidance of the mayor of Nijmegen. Then they set off and we expect the first pilgrims around 17.00h in villa Wylerberg on the Duivelsberg (Beek-Ubbergen).
The villa is located in the middle of nature, about a 14-kilometre walk from the Stevens Church and is a real ‘insider tip’: beautiful concert hall, lovely terrace, beautiful nature. Between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm, pilgrims can now enjoy meals from World Chefs, a project of the OntmoetplanB foundation to help immigrant women, among others, gain work experience. Here’s what’s on the menu:
- 2 types of soup, Indian Carrot Laksa and Red lentil soup with green herbs from Congo
- 2 types of salad, for example couscous salad with dates, almonds and feta, and a fresh salad such as a Mediterranean tomato salad or cucumber apple salad
- Zulu zagarlic, Moroccan eggplant dish
- Curry Aloo Dum from India, or Indian cauliflower dish
- Zucchini biscuits with mint and feta or fritatta with spinach and pecorino
- Briouats with feta and bell pepper, or sheep’s cheese briouats
- Turkish bread
- Humus
- Root laksa
