Wanted: Treasurer for the Walk of Wisdom

After Angelien Reith approved the 2020 annual report and the budget for 2021, she felt that her job at the Walk of Wisdom was done. The foundation has matured, financially healthy as well (see: annual report 2020 and outlook 2021). We gratefully said goodbye to her at the end of March, she wants to fully focus on gardening. As a result, board members Thomas Hontelez (chairman) and Jan Alers (secretary) are looking for a new treasurer, who, like them, wants to continue the great work for the foundation.
The purpose of the foundation
The Walk of Wisdom Foundation wants to promote wisdom with the help of a week-long pilgrimage route through a diverse landscape with telephone and internet as much as possible. The foundation is independent of any religion and is based on the connection between people and the world. Our great plan is a marked pilgrimage route in every country of the world. In 2015 we started a pioneering route of 136 kilometres around Nijmegen.
The organization
The board of the Walk of Wisdom meets at least four times a year with the coordinators at the foundation’s office address on the Pater Brugmanstraat in Nijmegen. The board is remote reviewing. Together with the coordinators, it sets out the line of the foundation and monitors the mission and objectives. An important topic in the coming period is consolidating the growth of recent years and exploring opportunities for expansion abroad. In doing so, we do not lose sight of the Walk of Wisdom of the Walk of Wisdom. The treasurer works closely with the accounting and coordination departments in keeping an overview of and controlling the financial situation of the foundation and is involved in the preparation of the annual report and the budget.
We are looking for someone who:
- has experience with the position of treasurer.
- has good general financial acumen.
- thinks constructively and can find the right balance between involvement and administrative distance.
- wants to dedicate itself from enthusiasm and enthusiasm to realize the ideals of the foundation.
- live in the vicinity of Nijmegen/or elsewhere on the route.
- has an affinity with walking in general and the idea of pilgrimage in particular.
The board work for the Walk of Wisdom is unpaid. Directors do not receive any fees or travel expenses. As a rule, meetings take place in Nijmegen, or elsewhere along the route.
