Which inspired editor-in-chief will contribute to the story of the Walk of Wisdom?

The Walk of Wisdom Foundation wants to promote wisdom by propagating the connection between people and nature. We do this with a week-long pilgrimage route walking through diverse landscape with telephone and internet off. The big plan is one Walk of Wisdom in every country of the world. In 2015 we started a pioneering route around Nijmegen. It is going well: more than 5,000 enthusiastic pilgrims have already registered.

(1) EDITOR-IN-CHIEF (f/m)

Volunteer vacancy — as of June

We are looking for an editor-in-chief who, in an honest but committed way, will look for in-depth stories behind our inspiration and activities, the route itself and the pilgrims who come to visit it. Together with one of the coordinators, you will put together a small editorial team that will provide columns, news items, interviews and backgrounds for our newsletter and website. You are also thinking about a sequel to our pilgrim book of hours Seasons of Life .

The tasks

  • Setting up and leading a small editorial team in coordination with one of the coordinators for writing articles for the website and newsletter.
  • Planning and distributing those articles over at least a year.
  • Thinking about new, appealing ways to tell the story of the Walk of Wisdom .

The editor-in-chief asks for about four hours a week and is partly dependent on your own efforts as a writer.

What do we ask for?

  • HBO/WO thinking level, creative language feeling with practical experience and living in or around Nijmegen.
  • Talent for collaboration, systematic overview and (pleasant) delegation skills.
  • Inspiration for the same values as the Walk of Wisdom.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to help bring a young pilgrimage tradition to fruition in a relaxed, but enthusiastic volunteer organization.
  • An opportunity to develop yourself as editor-in-chief.
  • An expense allowance of €100 per month and flexibility: you decide when you work and can do this largely from home.
  • We regularly clean up litter ourselves, put up nesting boxes and support local nature projects: it’s just nice to tell that story and raise awareness.
