Valkhof Association and Walk of Wisdom confirm their collaboration

From now on, the departure ceremonies of the Walk of Wisdom pilgrimage route will be held in the Nicholas Chapel of the Valkhof Society in the Valkhof Park in Nijmegen. After a trial of several months, both parties confirmed the cooperation with the handing over of a starter kit for the pilgrimage route.

Chairman Rob van Bruggen of the Valkhof Association received it from Manja Bente, co-developer of the Walk of Wisdom. The Stevenskerk remains the start and end point of the route.

Manja Bente: “The chapel is 500 metres further along the route. It is an intimate space where you feel safe. It is an ideal place for a moment of reflection and we are happy to include this special building in our route.”

The chairman of the Valkhof Association could not avoid giving his view on wisdom. Van Bruggen: “Wisdom is the willingness to test your own opinion against that of others and to be open to a better version. Not only because we are fallible, but also because the world is changeable. What is true today may not be true tomorrow. That’s why it’s wise to be open to new insights every day.”

The departure ceremonies start every third Saturday of the month at 10.00 am in the Nicholas Chapel. At 09.45h you can join a silent walk from the Mariken statue on the Grote Markt towards the chapel. The ceremony lasts half an hour, is independent of any religion and is free to attend.
