Tribute to our start and end point
Since 2015, the Stevens Church in Nijmegen has been the start and end point of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom and we are very proud of that. The building dates back to the 13th century and is considered the most striking building in the city.
The church offers us hospitality free of charge and to give something back, we have saved some from every pilgrim who signed up this year. Enough to make the so-called ‘Steveniers’ contribution’ (€365,-). With this we pay one day a year for the costs of keeping the Stevenskerk open: dear Stevenskerk, nice that you want to be our home!
The contribution to the Stevenskerk is part of our annual landscape contribution, with which we give something back to the landscape along the route. Soon we will support a number of nature projects, but we will start our sponsorship at the cultural landscape of our starting point. As a thank you, we received a miniature of the gargoyle of the Great South Portal, made of bronze.
