‘The enormous diversity of the journey stays with me’ (Marina Ceelen, pilgrim 244)
Pilgrim Marina Ceelen about her Walk of Wisdom
This year I completed the Walk of Wisdom in seven stages, during the days 8 to 12 and 15 and 17 August. My number is 244, but I understood that the number of hikers is already over 800. A fun, colorful and cheerful idea, all those bird rings from the different municipalities on the lace.
I thought the trip was a very special experience. What I especially remember is the enormous diversity of the surroundings of Nijmegen.
I have seen beautiful natural beauty, colored heaths with sheep, quiet fens, meter-high corn fields, towering trees, winding forest paths, beautiful views. It made me quiet and sometimes I felt completely overwhelmed.
The tour is well signposted and the route descriptions and maps in the booklet are clear. I will definitely do these walks more often. I also advertise a lot among my friends and acquaintances and on facebook.
Here is a picture that I would like to share. I made this one during the first stage when I visited the historic cemetery in Beek.
