Taizé celebration around the flame of peace 19 September Beek

The Protestant congregation of Landwijk is holding a freely accessible Taizé celebration around the world flame of peace when we arrive there during our flame walk in the national peace week. Below is an introduction by scribe Else Schaberg.

“We can never obtain peace in the world if we neglect the inner world and don’t make peace with ourselves. World peace must develop out of inner peace.”

This self-reflection of the Daila Lama also gives your own life meaning and direction with which you can continue on your path. During walking I experienced that this can be so ‘healing’  , you can completely clear your head of all kinds of daily worries and you can get closer to your ‘inside’. Unfortunately, I can’t walk anymore and that’s why I love the Taizé celebrations so much, in that peace and quiet that is also possible.

With this peace poem by Freek de Jonge I invite you to our celebration at the end of the first day with the world peace flame: Saturday 19 September, 20.00h, small Bartholomeuskerk Beek-Ubbergen (opposite hotel ‘t Spijker).

Peace poem Freek de Jonge

Of course, it’s the Americans
And religion often plays a role
Don’t forget the North Koreans
And especially our country is too full
How many times do you hear yourself say
What you think of the world
But dare to acknowledge
That peace starts with you
Of course, it’s the other person’s fault
That you don’t feel well
Life is full of misunderstandings
But you meant well
You’re fighting your own little war
Hoping you win it
But you know deep down
That peace starts with yourself
Of course, everyone wants it differently
And no one can do without an ideal
So peace has become a cliché
Spokespersons and diplomatic language
Leave the path of cynicism
Regain a child’s innocence
Accept the consequences of
That peace starts with yourself

Prior to the celebration is a silent walk at 18.00h from Persingen with flame bearer Anja Strik, sign up via this link.
