Silent walk the WoW in a year round (7): Ravenstein – Wijchen
On Sunday 11 November, the seventh stage of the walk of Wisdom in a year will be completed. Patricia Akkermans ( practice Dankh) and Marja Hakkoer (‘our’ photographer) prepared the walk.
The stage goes from Ravenstein station to Wijchen station. The official distance this time is only 11 kilometers, this has to do with public transport options on the route after Wijchen. To make the stage attractive for people who come from far away, we walk an extra loop of 4 kilometers around the Wijchens lake.
On the way, we take a break in Ine van Gaalen’s Terrazul studio. Coffee and tea are served there. A voluntary contribution for this is appreciated. In Ine’s studio you can also buy the clay tablets, from the ritual for Nijmegen Green Capital about which Leonie van der Schoor made a nice video (link). These cost € 2.50.
Theme
The theme of Sunday 11 November is the power of decay.
There is an apparent contradiction in this theme. The power of decay is everywhere this season. As in new life that is shrouded in an apparently rotting seed, in fallen dry and dead leaves that provide nourishment for growth and shelter for small life on the ground. Contradictions that we also encounter and will experience on the route, such as the hustle and bustle of the highway and the tranquility of the water, walking along farmlands and through the built-up area. We pass a beautiful farmhouse that has been refurbished on the outside, but in disrepair on the inside (this one is called De Vormer).
Can we integrate these contradictions into ourselves or do we resist them?
It is a transition season and a switching stage of empty forms, of re-forming, re-forming and re-forming, of letting go of illusions. A period of outer rest and inner growth. Life wants to change, do you allow change?
Practical
We meet at 10.35 am at Ravenstein station. From there we first walk to a quiet place where we open the walk. Around 16.30h we arrive at Wijchen station.
Ravenstein station and Wijchen station are on the same railway line, so you can park a car in Wijchen and from there take the train to Ravenstein.
