Silent walk in February: put your ear, carefully and carefully, to listen
On 4 February, spring begins, according to Jaap Voigt, author of the book ‘Living & Working in the rhythm of the seasons’. Marlou Elsen organizes monthly silent walks with Icelandic horses, following the rhythm of this book.
Exactly on Sunday 4 February, she will also lead the ninth Silent Walk of ‘The Walk of Wisdom in a year around’, the penultimate in the series. It will be a walk (without horses) of about 15 kilometers from the bus stop in Afferden to Beuningen.
What Marlou says about it: ‘In February, there are already signs of spring: the days are getting longer; Trees and shrubs are budding, birds are making themselves heard again and it is getting warmer. Spring is all about waking up and bursting open. It is the dawn of the year; New, fresh and full of promise.’
What wants to be born from within you?
During the previous silent walk with the theme ‘Room for something new’, a first realization may have arisen about what wants to germinate in you and what is starting to require a form.
That which wants to emerge is usually still very vulnerable and therefore requires strong roots. Because healthy roots are necessary for healthy growth. Put your ear, carefully and gently, to listen.
Questions I want to ask at the beginning of the walk:
- What do you have to do about nutrition and maintenance?
- How do you interact between germ and continuity?
- What you need is the confidence and quiet patience that the sprouts will take root and take shape in their own way. How does this work for you? How do you create trust in the germs and the way in which they take shape on their own and at their own pace?
- What do you have to do or not do that will allow there to be a firm rooting; more depth can be created.
