Sharing economy pioneer Juul Martin
Juul Martin, pioneer of the sharing economy, has written a text for our pilgrim’s book and has thus become a symbolic precursor of the Walk of Wisdom.
Juul Martin gained national fame with the “House of Abundance” where he built a beautifully designed house for less than 900 Euros with surplus building materials and the help of many volunteers. He also organized a Sinterklaas party in Nijmegen where 3000 people from Nijmegen gave gifts to people who were not so well off.
In Martin’s view, people in today’s society are given too little opportunity to give and share when they actually like to do so. He tries to create that opportunity with projects such as Nijmegen deelstad, the deelwinkel and lectures. His message is certainly worth contemplating and we are happy that he has become a symbolic precursor of our route.
