Route determined and measured with GPS

We are busy publishing a route guide for the Walk of Wisdom. The description is compact and as precise as possible and we include about 35 detailed maps. It will be a handy booklet that should easily enable the runner to walk the Walk of Wisdom while the route markings are not yet ready everywhere.

A month ago, a team of volunteers checked the description and last week Thomas Hontelez walked the route in its entirety, including detailed maps. Thomas works for the Franciscan Movement and recently made a pilgrim to Istanbul. With a GPS device, he determined the final number of kilometers: 136!

Until now we assumed 125 kilometers, but the pilgrims can enjoy the route a little longer. Thomas wrote a report of his trip that we publish on the website. We hope that he will contribute to the route more often.
