Roadside assistance
The Walk of Wisdom exists thanks to the efforts of volunteers and the support of friends and sponsors. A lot of that work happens behind the scenes (literally, too). Think of removing blackberry bushes that overgrow a path, adjusting the GPS track, placing a new marker post or repairing a birdhouse from which pilgrims remove our rings.
This week we were happy to receive a different kind of help.
Host family with special qualities
Johan and Willy from Wijchen walked the Roots nature trail together and then came across the Walk of Wisdom. They decided to sign up as a host family where pilgrims are welcome at the rate of friends on bicycles (€22.50). A warm and affordable way to spend the night in people’s homes that complements the range of B&Bs and hotels nicely.
In the contact, it turned out that Johan had his own company in subsidy and fund applications: ABJS. Coincidentally, we just checked if there is a jar available for the Walk of Wisdom . We think that our route can be self-sufficient thanks to the income from starter packs and donations, but in order to deepen the route in the Netherlands and broaden it abroad, we need investments. Johan is now going to help us map out the possibilities.
Nice this help along the way!
