Report of a walk, April 6-14

,

Such reports give us a glow on the cheeks at the Walk of Wisdom . Thanks, Joannes, for submitting!

What a wonderful journey you have set out. I’m completely fulfilled, but also tired!
How beautiful this part of the Netherlands is and I was able to find my way through the ‘angel’ signaling. I (born in 1944) often had a ‘alone in the world’ feeling!
I also looked in amazement at the many horses and sheep in polders and floodplains. However, the sunken roads in the hillside forests were often very muddy, probably partly due to the high groundwater level, especially in the Ooipolder.
The most exciting thing was to find a place to sleep, because I had only booked the first (very pleasant) hotel in Ubbergen (‘t Spijker). After that, the search really took a lot of effort, but I didn’t want to determine in advance where I would stay… .
Both the Gasthaus in Frasselt, B&B in Nederasselt, the Elector in Ravenstein and ‘Friends on the bike’ in Angerden were all highly recommended.
The apotheosis was the boat ‘Opoe Sientje’ on the Waalkade in Nijmegen, where I could relax and enjoy the uncomplicated hospitality. ‘Laissez faire, laissez aller’ feeling, also because I didn’t have to carry my (too heavy, 8 kg) backpack anymore.
So don’t take too much with you! ‘Everything you leave at home is taken’!!
Joannes (I’m going to show my wife a few things soon, so beautiful!)
