Pilgrims three, four and five have registered
We have three new registrations for a ‘walk of wisdom’: Louis de Mast, Manja Bente and a pilgrim who wants to remain anonymous.
Louis de Mast
The well-known Nijmegen resident and socially engaged Louis de Mast is the third pilgrim ever to register. In Nijmegen, Louis is co-initiator of the G1000 citizens’ summit, an alternative form of democracy based on a lottery that will take place in October of this year. At the beginning of this year, he organized a busy ‘je suis Charlie’ demonstration for freedom of expression together with our symbolic predecessor Said Bouharrou. In the summer of 2014, he initiated a large-scale clean-up campaign of litter along the Waal beaches, which has been taken over by the Walk of Wisdom through Actie Schone Waal. Louis works as a quartermaster at TVN Zorgt and the Zorgpioniers.
Because I had to deal with intense loss at a young age, the search for meaning started for me at an early age. Rituals, reflecting on the good and being touched by symbols are of great significance to me. I am an adept of the art of living, the doctrine of infinity, Augustine and various philosophers who sharpen the mind. That’s why it feels good to walk the Walk of Wisdom as a pilgrim and I hope for beautiful encounters and insights during the walk.
Manja Bente
We proclaim Manje Bente as symbolic pilgrim number 1! This with the knowledge of Jan Veltman, the first pilgrim to register. Manja has been involved in the Walk of Wisdom since the foundation was founded and has made a difference several times. Manja is a teacher of Care and Welfare, loves walking, dancing, yoga and astrology. As a volunteer of the Walk of Wisdom , she is committed to the development of the pilgrim’s lace and the bird rings that serve as a creative variant of the pilgrim’s passport and the stamp card (More information about the pilgrim’s necklace).
