Philosophising about wisdom on the Walk of Wisdom

, ,

‘On the way to wisdom’ is a nine-episode program at Omroep Gelderland and will be recorded on the Walk of Wisdom. Klaas Drupsteen walks the route and meets nine well-known Gelderlanders with whom he talks about wisdom. The first guest is, yes, our own mayor Hubert Bruls of Nijmegen.

It’s wonderful that the route is used for these episodes to philosophize about what wisdom means to someone. In search of your own wisdom: after all, that is what we want to convey with the Walk of Wisdom.

Last Saturday I was invited to the first recordings to say goodbye to Klaas Drupsteen. Nice to see how the recording came about with Ruben van Herpen, the cameraman, and Marlies Kruisenga, who directs. You could notice that they are attuned to each other and each come up with arguments from their own profession to come up with a beautiful picture.

You also felt some tension with them, the first images of nine episodes are crucial and have to be good. They were trying to figure out the best location for a shot. Start in front of the Stevenkerk, or rather on the tower. After some hesitation, the tower keeper was reached. We were able to climb all the stairs and were rewarded with a beautiful view over the city of Nijmegen.

It’s great to see what a creative process filming is, but also what a time it takes to produce a five-minute piece of film.

I am very curious to see what wisdom Klaas will receive on his journey. If all goes well, his new hiking boots will also have been broken in at the end of the tour. The first episode will be in January. We’ll keep you posted.
