Here is the latest news about the pilgrimage route-in-development: the Walk of Wisdom.
Book of Hours and Pilgrims Seasons of Life
We start the route in August 2015 with a month-long exhibition of the contemporary book of hours and pilgrims the Seasons of Life in the Stevens Church in Nijmegen. In that book, well-known and inspiring Dutch people show something of their philosophy of life on the basis of a personal experience. Their contributions are interspersed with depictions of universal themes by living artists.
Pilgrims walking the route may submit a page for future publications; the Dutch who contribute to the first edition are therefore the symbolic forerunners of the pilgrimage route. The first contribution has already been received and comes from Herman Wijffels, former CEO of Rabobank.
Seasons of Life is published by Intermedi-art Kunstzaken, which also organizes the free exhibition.
Project plan and funding
We want to start in August 2015, but a lot still needs to be done to get the route off the ground. That is why we are going to set up a small but hopefully effective organization: the pilgrim office of the Walk of Wisdom. The project plan for the pilgrim office has now been completed, including a financial coverage plan.
In the coming months, we will be looking for funding for the plan. We now have an attractive Committee of Recommendation to support the plans: two mayors (Hubert Bruls of Nijmegen and Carol van Eert van Beuningen), Herman Wijffels (former CEO Rabobank), Jan Douwe Kroeske (TV and radio producer) and Matthijs Schouten (philosopher/ecologist at the Dutch Forestry Commission).
Below you will find the latest news articles from the website with more background on the above developments.
