Funding
Over the past few months, we have been working on the project plan for the pioneering phase of the route. We want to take over the existing 117-kilometre-long Streekpad Nijmegen from the Wandelnet foundation. Between June 2014 and August 2017 we will develop the first part of the Walk of Wisdom . To do this, we need to set up a professional organization that can enter into partnerships with people and organizations that recognize themselves in the story and core values of the Walk of Wisdom .
It turned out to be a nice plan that I Attachment to this e-mail Do. We will need a lot of support in the first few years, but within four years we think we will be able to cover our costs on a meaningful route. We submitted the plan to the Doen Foundation and sent informal contact requests to the Haella Fund, a few philanthropists and fund managers from major banks. At the end of this month, we will look at other possibilities. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a happy ending!
Symbolic precursors
If the funding is secured, we will open the route in August 2015 in the Stevenskerk in Nijmegen with a month-long exhibition of Seasons of Life: a contemporary tide and pilgrim’s book. In this book, contributions with the philosophies of well-known and inspiring Dutch people are interspersed with poems and miniatures (mini-paintings) by living artists on universal themes. The exhibition will be a red carpet for the pilgrim who, after completing the route, will be allowed to provide a page for future editions of the pilgrim’s book.
Publisher of the book Intermedi-Art fully believes in our plan and is already working the book. New contributions have been promised by, among others, the winner of the Socrates 2013 Cup for the best philosophical book, Professor of Philosophical Ethics Paul van Tongeren (Life is an Art), ritual facilitator and endowed professor of European culture Christiane Berkvens-Stevelinck and Johan Willemstein, march leader of the Four Days Marches Nijmegen (the ‘Walk of the World’). Can you spare something?
The Walk of Wisdom was founded at the end of 2011 with the help of 19 donors. With that support, we paid the notary, the bank charges and the costs for hosting and the website. Unfortunately, the bottom of the treasury is coming into view. If you can spare some to cover the running costs, that would be nice. Any contribution is welcome. Our account number is (Iban) NL56 TRIO 0254 4007 36 in the name of the Walk of Wisdom.
For now, with warm regards,
Damien, chairman Walk of Wisdom.
