Orientation afternoon on walking the Walk of Wisdom: Saturday 20 April 14.00h
You are interested in walking the Walk of Wisdom or you have registered, but how do you go about it? How do you make it more than just a beautiful walking tour?
The Walk of Wisdom is set up as a pilgrimage ritual, where you walk for a week with your phone and internet turned off as much as possible. Time to reflect on what is going on under the surface in connection with your environment and beyond the issues of the day.
At the orientation afternoon on Saturday 20 April at 14:00 in the Stevenskerk, the developers of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom Damiaan Messing and Manja Bente will give a presentation with room for practical questions, so that you can shape the tour in a way that suits you. In collaboration with Ester Rutten of Wandel in Contact , you are then invited to start the reflection during a walk of 5-6 kilometers through Nijmegen and along the Waal.
The orientation afternoon is in the crypt of the Stevens Church, which is open to the living this time. Registration is via a ticket (link), the amount (€6.50) goes entirely to the Stevenskerk and includes coffee or tea.
Walk in Contact
What is a reason for you to go on a pilgrimage at this time? What do you hope it brings you? How would you fill it in? The first half of the walk is one person telling his/her story and it is up to the other to listen as well as possible with an open attitude and to ask any in-depth questions. The second half of the walk we turn the tables.
This set-up gives room to talk about yourself, while you don’t know the other person yet. Walking contributes to this in a very positive way, because you don’t have to look at each other all the time and the environment literally gives “air” to the conversation.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, LIMITED SPACE! Sign up: link.
The next orientation afternoon is – subject to change – Saturday 18 May at 14.00h. Location still unknown.
Tip: in the morning at 10.00 am there is a departure ceremony for pilgrims in the Valkhof Chapel in Nijmegen, you are welcome to come and watch and wave goodbye to the pilgrims. Meet at 09.45h at the statue of Mariken on the Grote Markt, in front of the gate to the Stevens Church.
