Opening Philosopher’s Bridge
On Tuesday 2 July, we will open a pedestrian bridge in the Duivelsberg nature reserve, which has been renovated on our initiative.
The bridge is located in the Filosofendal of the Duivelsberg in Berg en Dal. The Walk of Wisdom does not cross the bridge, but it does go through the nature reserve and we like to give something back to that beautiful area. Philosopher literally means ‘friend of wisdom’!
The work was done by volunteers from the Forestry Commission and the bulk of the material costs were paid for by the Cultuurfonds Rijk van Nijmegen and pancake restaurant de Duivelsberg. The municipality of Berg en Dal and Devils’ Trail Nijmegen co-paid. B&B Pastorie Beek helped with the sponsorship campaign that ran between 2016 and early 2018.
On Tuesday 2 July at 4.30 pm we will festively open the bridge. Representatives of the parties drill a nameplate into the bridge and each of them reads a favorite philosophical quote or motto.

Location
At pancake restaurant de Heksendans opposite Tivoli (Oude Kleefsebaan 425) enter the street Wyler. On the right you have the capital villa Berglust. Behind this, immediately to the right, is the entrance to the Duivelsberg, which takes you to the bridge after 700 meters after a winding path. Bicycle parking at the entrance of the area, the car at the Oude Kleefsebaan.
Alternative: the entrance next to Rijkstraatweg 186A, this gravel path leads to a house, just before the house you can turn left, a small path parallel to a stream. This path also leads to the bridge.
