On the road along lines of suffering and light – René van Nieuwkuijk
Last Sunday, René van Nieuwkuijk guided a silent walk in the series of ten walks ‘The Walk of Wisdom in a year around’. It was a drizzly day and it was very cold, but there were still about twenty participants.
René van Nieuwkuijk, social worker and one of our markers, accompanied the march and he started his story for the silent walk: ‘The trick is to make use of the people we suffer from.’ With the theme ‘Slalom along lines of suffering and light’ we set off.
Halfway we had our lunch with Ine van Gaalen in her ceramicstudio Terrazul in Wijchen, which is on the route. Pilgrims can give a wish to the fire in a fire pit. We’ve all done that. Nice to have such a welcoming place on the road.
Then we continued on our way to Leur and warmed up at restaurant De Leurse Hof. It was a nice trip. One of those days that you wouldn’t really go outside because of the bad weather. If you do, you will feel completely satisfied at the end of the day.
The next Silence Walk is Sunday 7 January. Click here for more information.
