‘Old Bondswandelweg from Nijmegen to Plasmolen’: new hiking guide from ‘our’ forester Ellen
Forester Ellen Luijks has published a walking guide: ‘On foot with forester Ellen, Oude Bondswandelweg from Nijmegen to Plasmolen’. Previously, she wrote such a guide about the ANWB walking route from Amsterdam to Arnhem.
Ellen is an inspired and inspiring forester at Natuurmonumenten in the Rijk van Nijmegen, the area through which the Walk of Wisdom also passes. She feels strongly connected to the pilgrimage route and very special: she walked the entire Walk of Wisdom a few years ago with her daughter Agnes. Agnes was 6 years old at the time, making her the youngest participant ever.
In her new hiking guide, Ellen reconstructs the old ANWB Hiking Trail from almost 100 years ago and shows what has changed. She goes in search of the old paths of the past and discovers that 85% of the route can still be followed. While walking, she passes many interesting places full of rich history and soothing nature.
Forester Ellen likes to tell people about the beautiful nature we have in the Netherlands. She walks a lot in her spare time. She enjoys immersing herself in nature and the history of the landscape. She is concerned about the pace at which our country is changing.
The retail price of the new book is 17.50 euros, but until June 8 you can order it for 13.50 euros (including shipping costs) via wandelboswachterellen.nl.
