Mayor of Nijmegen Bruls reflects on pilgrims’ lauds on 5 October

The mayor of Nijmegen, Hubert Bruls, will be the reader of our upcoming pilgrim lauds ‘See the sun!’ on Saturday 5 October at 8.13 am. The mayor reads a page from our book of hours Seasons of Life, which was published at the opening of our route in 2015.

In the Stevenskerk there is a special edition of the book with the forty original works of art with which the book was ‘illuminated’. Known and unknown Dutch people wrote an experience or insight that made them a little wiser. Salient detail: the mayor also wrote a reflection. Now we have to wait and see if he dares to choose his own contribution to read aloud!

See the sun! A contemporary pilgrim’s lauds

See the sun! is a monthly reflection ceremony half an hour after sunrise in the quietly deserted Stevens Church. We make a delayed tour of the dignified national monument from 1283 to listen to a contemplation. We also reflect on the beginning of sunlight through the large stained glass windows of the church.

The meeting lasts half an hour and is free to attend. Report on Saturday 5 October at 08.13 am at the side entrance of the Stevens Church in Nijmegen at Stevenskerkhof 62. Be on time: the door is closing!
