Mayor of Druten now also ambassador – Lucien van Riswijk

Great news for the support of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom in the region: Mayor Lucien van Riswijk of Druten has become an ambassador for our pilgrimage route. 

Mayor Van Riswijk is known for his no-nonsense style of speeches and vision on regional cooperation between municipalities. He knows how to run, although he mainly does it as a runner. He has expressed his willingness to give moral support to our new pilgrimage route as an ambassador.

The Walk of Wisdom passes through the villages of Afferden and Deest within his municipality and Druten is one of the eleven municipalities along the route. Lucien van Riswijk is the seventh mayor to become an ambassador. 

Remarkable detail: an uncle of the mayor made the statues of Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas for a long time. From an early age, he came into contact with the art of the designers of our icon: Pilgrim.
