Mayor of Beuningen forerunner
The mayor of Beuningen, Carol van Eert, has joined the Committee of Recommendation of the Walk of Wisdom. Beuningen is the municipality where the provisional end point of the pioneering route of our new pilgrimage is to be built: the Anima Mundi – a project by the artists Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas.
The artist’s work focuses on the connection between man and the earth. With the Anima Mundi, Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas provide a new contemplative space of 99.9 meters long and 6.66 meters high. It is intended as a freely accessible, contemporary philosophical meeting place inspired by the Greek Agora or Stoa. The artists hope that a new world consciousness will emerge in which man sees himself as a co-creator on earth (more).
The Anima Mundi is an example of how the Walk of Wisdom wants to develop. As a pilgrimage route, we do not say: what these artists offer is the truth. We are only trying to provide food for thought. We hope that other institutions, artists, individuals or groups will also develop something along the route from their own source of inspiration. Connecting factors are the core values of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom: authenticity – the will and courage to explore who you are, diversity – respect for the attitude to life of others and sustainability – the willingness to contribute something good to the world (more).
The exact location of the Anima Mundi is not yet known, but at the moment the dike at Winssen is being considered. The artists are working hard to obtain approval from the relevant authorities and then set to work to cover the considerable costs.
Mayor Carol van Eert has now announced that his enthusiasm for the Anima Mundi and the Walk of Wisdom “is beyond doubt.” We are pleased with the support of this influential administrator and are one step closer to the realization of what we hope will be a meaningful pilgrimage route.
