Many ‘green’ intentions in Valkhof Chapel

It’s nice to see that our ritual creativity around Nijmegen, the green capital of Europe, is catching on. In the Valkhof Chapel we have placed a bowl of soil where anyone who wants to can ‘plant’ an intention for a green lifestyle. This is done by writing that intention on a vegetable garden label and sticking it in the soil. The labels ran out after only two weeks.

In the meantime, we have replenished the stock. The Valkhof Chapel is located on the Walk of Wisdom route, about 700 meters from the starting point of the Stevenskerk. The chapel is usually open daily between 11:00 and 17:00, except Mondays.

The ritual was conceived together with poet and singer Dineke de Velde Harsenhorst (link). Are you registered as a pilgrim? Every third Saturday of the month, during departure ceremonies, we hand out unfired clay tablets on which you can write an intention to leave it somewhere on your journey.
