Looking for additional host families along the route

News, selection, Stories from our editors

The route of the Walk of Wisdom is busy. It’s going very well and of course we’re very happy with that. That is why we are looking for additional host families.

A lot of pilgrims walk the route in a week in a row and of course you need places to stay for the night. It is nice to be able to walk the route in a simple way. What could be better than spending the night with host families, where you will be welcomed when you are tired, cold, wet or get a shady spot after a hot day?

Ryon (pictured) has been a host family from the very beginning. She is very enthusiastic about receiving pilgrims. She thinks they are nice people and has beautiful encounters. Sometimes she also has nice contacts as a result. Ryon: ‘Host families can of course also do it temporarily, if they do not want to visit too many pilgrims or not all year round. Then I can send pilgrims to my area in the vicinity of Mook if I don’t have room .’ Ryon has even asked the priest if he can give pilgrims a place when it is busy.

Would you like to receive pilgrims as a host family? Let us know by sending an email to [email protected].

Especially in the area of Berg en Dal, Wijchen and Afferden we need more places to stay.

Host families determine the price for an overnight stay themselves. Most of them use the price of Friends on the Bike (+-25 euros per night, including breakfast)
