‘Letting go of what I have loved’ (André Leijssen, pilgrim 790)
Walk beyond the horizon, writes André Leijssen, pilgrim 790. He walked the Walk of Wisdom last summer. A year earlier, he wrote the poem below. He now sent it for publication.
pilgrim
Like a pilgrim on lonely paths
I follow my shadow
Walk beyond the horizon
Let me go my own way
Wandering in a forgotten landscape
Lying in the green grass
Life is letting go
What I have loved dearly
Rediscovering what was lost
Love is the only path of life
Not the end point is my goal
but the way to get there
Love is not demanding, it gives itself
Like the shining sun
gives her warmth in a pleasant way
That’s how my life overflows
paths of pilgrims, beyond
houses of hospitality and
welcome, by places in abandoned
and inhospitable regions
There are encounters of
Recognition and friendship
with people of good company
from ‘hello’ and a warm ‘goodbye’
