Landscape contribution: new bench for Duivelsberg

News, Stories from our editors

Thanks to the donations for our starter packs, we were able to donate a bench to the Duivelsberg nature reserve. Nice to give something back to this beautiful area.

We have put up a sign with an anonymous statement from one of our pilgrims: “Aware of our close bond, we walk this path together.”

That statement beautifully conveys the connection why we work on the Walk of Wisdom with love. As human beings, we are connected to each other — and to nature — even if the news sometimes doesn’t show it. Good to cherish places where there is room for it!

CALF BITER

The Duivelsberg is sometimes called the ‘inner world’ because of the un-Dutch height differences. It is really a ‘calf biter’, but the beauty of the forest makes up for it.

The area was annexed from Germany by the Netherlands after WWII. It’s the only piece we haven’t returned over the years. Our route runs through it from kilometer 15 to 19 with a real Filosofendal.

The bench has been placed near pancake restaurant De Duivelsberg by Staatsbosbeheer Rivierengebied Oost. The area is located in @gemeentebergendal.

We immediately added a footstool for the less tall people…

The money for the bench comes from our piggy bank of the ‘landscape contribution’. We save €1 from every donation for our starter packs ,-.
