Invited by the Arnhem-Nijmegen region
We take another step towards the new pilgrimage route: on Monday 18 March, Huub and Adelheid and I are expected to visit the director of the regional tourist office of the Arnhem-Nijmegen region, Mr. Jurriaan de Mol.
The Regional Tourist Office (RTB) is considered an influential and decisive organisation that has already (co-)launched many new projects, including the Liberation Route. This is a route along places that have to do with the victory of the Allies over the German occupiers during the Second World War. The route is currently limited to North Brabant and the Arnhem-Nijmegen region, but will be extended to the rest of the continent in the future with the support of Europe.
Many partnerships have been established and funds have been found for the Liberation Route; it would be nice if the Walk of Wisdom would receive the same support in developing the basic structure of the Walk of Wisdom in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region.
The first candidate for the development of this basic structure is the Streekpad Nijmegen. We are now looking for permission from the managers of the Regional Path to develop our pilgrimage route there. If that is allowed, this development will only be a success if our pilgrimage and its pursuit of wisdom in international cooperation are supported by people and organizations in the region.
I am curious if the Walk of Wisdom can work together with the RTB and will of course report on this via this blog!
