A week of hiking around Nijmegen

If you are looking for a nice trail to hike in the Netherlands, the Walk of Wisdom is for you. This pilgrimage route of 147 kilometers goes through the beautiful and hilly surroundings of Nijmegen.

In 2018, the route was awarded the Gelderland Public Award. In six years, more than 10,000 pilgrims signed up, but the route is still experienced as very quiet . You can walk there for hours without meeting anyone.

Although wild camping is forbidden in the Netherlands, you can easily find a quiet spot here. Set your mobile to unreachable and hit the road. Leave no trace!

Distinguishing features

The Walk of Wisdom goes through two countries, three provinces and 11 municipalities and is largely unpaved.

Pilgrims take an average of one week to walk (147 kilometers).

It is a modern pilgrimage route independent of any religion, inspired by nature.

The route connects many different nature reserves and is therefore very versatile.

The route is well marked.

Get ready for the Dutch mountains!

After registration , you will receive a starter pack with a route guide including 34 detailed maps, GPS track, accommodation list for every budget and the symbols of the tour.

A foundation manages the route and gives part of the registration fee to the landscape.

The starter kit contains a special pin by the artists Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas. Lake.
