Hoogwater-Ooijpolder.jpg

The water has now subsided

Pilgrims leaving at this time: it is regularly high water in the river area at the moment. Especially at the beginning of the route at the Ooijpolder, 2 kilometers from the starting point and at the end at Beuningen. If you find yourself in front of flooded stretches of polder, you can always divert to the paved asphalt dike. At the end it takes you back towards Nijmegen and at the beginning of the route to the first drop-off point of the bird rings – Oortjeshekken.

Periods of high tide usually occur in February and March. If you want to get into the area, get ready for mud and mud!
