“God’s gift” for our start and end point
We are happy: our starting and ending point – the Stevens Church in Nijmegen – will receive the largest national contribution in the new subsidy round for national monuments. The 750-year-old building stands proudly on a hill and is the heart of the city. But such a large and old building has enormous maintenance costs.
The government has now promised to pay 75% of the periodic maintenance costs in the coming years. The rest has to come from other sources. As Walk of Wisdom , we make a modest contribution. We are “Stevenier” and symbolically pay the structural annual maintenance costs (€365) for one day every year. That day is June 21st, the day of our birthday.
Congratulations to the ‘grande dame’ of Nijmegen. It’s great that a large part of the periodic maintenance is now provided for and good luck finding the additional financing!
