Former bank CEO Herman Wijffels

The prominent and progressive former leader of Rabobank Herman Wijffels has been the first to declare himself willing to become a symbolic forerunner of the Walk of Wisdom. He will also contribute to the contemporary book of hours and pilgrimage Seasons of Life , becoming the first symbolic precursor of the route.

Wijffels was, among other things, chairman of the Social and Economic Council, informateur of a cabinet and chairman of the association Natuurmonumenten. He is currently co-chairman of Worldconnectors, a Dutch think tank that is committed to a sustainable, peaceful and just world. He is also Professor of Sustainability and Social Change at Utrecht University.

As Walk of Wisdom , we are very happy that someone of Mr. Wijffels’ stature wants to connect with the new pilgrimage. He shows that influence and wisdom can go hand in hand and is therefore an excellent ‘precursor’ of our new pilgrimage tradition.
