Festive sponsorship campaign entrepreneurs at the departure of the 20,000th pilgrim

,

On Monday 15 September, we had a festive sponsorship moment with a number of hosts and hostesses of hotels and B&Bs on the Walk of Wisdom. It was also the beginning of the week in which our 20,000th pilgrim, Bernadette Kuiper, left. We met with coffee and cake at the Tempelhof, the estate with art by Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas who also designed our symbol ‘the Pilgrim’. Later that week, on Saturday, September 20, Bernadette left for her pilgrimage.

A group of more than 10 entrepreneurs responded enthusiastically to our request to do something around our 10th anniversary and the reception of the 20,000th pilgrim. Many of them offered a free overnight stay but also coffee / tea with something sweet, lunch or dinner. Two of these overnight stays – including a complete day package – were given as a gift to the 20,000th pilgrim. We will make the other overnight stays available as a prize for a competition among pilgrims who register in the near future. “I have been receiving pilgrims who walk the Walk of Wisdom for years and always enjoy their stories. That’s why I’m happy to participate in this initiative,” said one of the hosts and hostesses of the hotels and B&Bs along the route.

We are very happy with so much enthusiasm and involvement. It shows something of the significance of the Walk of Wisdom, not only for pilgrims but also for the hospitality in the region.
