Festive departure of the 999th pilgrim (and how it all came to be)

The 999th pilgrim has departed! Huib Wijtenburg and a number of other pilgrims (including Huib’s partner) were waved goodbye on Saturday 17 December during a festive departure ceremony in the Stevenskerk in the centre of Nijmegen.

During the meeting, Manja Bente looked back on the genesis of the pilgrimage and how she and Damiaan Messing shaped it more and more. She had baked Damien a chocolate cake with the route of the Walk of Walk of Wisdom on it. 

In recent years, new people have crossed their path every time who felt inspired by the plans and who helped in all kinds of ways. 

Many volunteers were present in the Stevens Church. The artists Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas, who designed the icon of the route, had also come.

During the meeting, beautiful live music was played. The tour is rock solid, more than 1050 starter packs have now been sold…
