How wonderful it is to start your journey when the sun is just rising. The light is different and again the miracle that we so often pass by. This departure ceremony is an ode in the form of a short reflection: the pilgrim’s lauds.

The (free) ceremony is independent of any religion and lasts about fifteen minutes:
be on time: the door closes!
A little after sunrise we make a silent walk through the deserted, more than 750-year-old Stevens Church. A reader reads an excerpt from our book of hours

. With contributions from well-known and unknown Dutch people about an inspiring experience. Finally, we stop to look at the beginning of the sunlight.

Order a free ticket below. Meet at the side door of the church (Stevenskerkhof 62).
Stevenspedel (rotating): Ton Reijnders, Jeroen van Zuylen (photo), Nico Kroon or Manja Bente. They will steer the ceremony in the right direction.

A modern Book of Hours

Seasons of Life is inspired by the Nijmegen brothers of Limburg. These medieval painters illustrated famous books of hours as the belle heures (lake). At the opening of the Walk of Wisdom, a modern version was introduced with inspiring stories and poetry. Modern artists illustrated the book. The book is sold out, but in the Stevenskerk there is a unique edition with all the original works of art in it. We are now working on a second Book of Hours:
