€365,- for Stevenskerk

With pleasure and pride we transferred €365 to the Stevenskerk, our starting and ending point. With this we take care of the ongoing maintenance of the church, which is considered the spiritual living room of Nijmegen and the monumental heart of the city, for one day a year.

We saved the money through the landscape contribution: for every pilgrim who registers, we set aside €1 to invest in the culture and nature along the route. Previously, we transferred money to the Bijendichter foundation, which is committed to flowery verges that are free of litter.

Of course, our start and end point should not be missed and therefore receives an extra ‘fat’ contribution. They deserve it. The Stevenskerk provides us with hospitality free of charge and connects the Walk of Wisdom with the cultural history of Nijmegen. The church is kept open by a loyal crowd of volunteers and is free of charge for anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

We actually think that every organization in Nijmegen that can afford it should take care of one such maintenance day. We are proud to be one of them, thanks to all the pilgrims. Nice detail: the Walk of Wisdom maintains June 21, the day of our birthday (2015).
