Become a co-creator of the world – Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas
The artists behind our symbol Pilgrim - Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas - were on TV this week at a beautiful broadcast of Binnenste Buiten. Co-coordinator Damiaan wrote the column below.
“Nature is our teacher,” say Huub & Adelheid Kortekaas in the TV report below. The two artists of our symbol Pilgrim invite people to become “co-creators” of the world. By shaping yourself from the deepest inside. And to contribute to a new view of man and the world in which man and nature reinforce each other.
They express their organic vision in their art. Personally, I am a fan of their ‘icons’. They are image-bearers of a vision that is simply true: humans come from an impressive 3.5 billion year old process of evolution. Earth has become a unique place, the only known habitat of life. A habitat to cherish: it is our heritage and our daily home.
Our social systems run counter to that habitat. An ‘earthly sin’ I would say! One that will turn against us if we don’t repent. Until then, the art and icons of Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas are much-needed reminders of that earthly truth of our origins, our present and our future. To me, they are signs of hope in the midst of all the ecological destruction, flagships of health, nurturing forms of the magical, primal germ that is life.
Walk of Wisdom
At the Walk of Wisdom we are grateful that Huub and Adelheid designed the symbol Pilgrim especially for our pilgrimage route. A variation on their icons and the archetype of the seedling: “Every person is a unique seedling of Mother Earth, each with its own germination capacity.” According to Huub and Adelheid.
Be sure to watch the beautiful, short report. Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas want to hand over their temple of hope and regeneration to society.
