Annual Report 2023: Our Eighth – Beautiful – Year as a Modern Pilgrimage
Every year, we take a moment to reflect on our development by means of an annual report. We have now determined that of 2023 with the board of our foundation. Read it here, including a foreword by our chairman Monica.
Summary
In 2023, 2,669 people signed up for a starter pack as pilgrims of the Walk of Wisdom. About 200 pilgrims less than last year, but still a good number. Just like other years, they come from all over the country as well as Flanders. We received some nice reports again, which contribute steadily to our beginning pilgrimage tradition around Nijmegen.
The pilgrims are often full of gratitude for the work of all our volunteers. One of the pilgrims even put our symbol as a tattoo on his leg after his trip. We were silent for a moment…
This year we started with sponsored starter packs for pilgrims living around or below welfare level. They can register with a donation of €15, including postage, instead of €37.45 including postage. We have the impression that, fortunately, it is not being abused.
Furthermore, many donations came in for the e-book of our new Book of Hours. This is the first chapter. The sequel and the paper Book of Hours are still a while away.
Our foundation is financially healthy. Thanks to all our volunteers for their work and our donors for making our foundation possible!

“The great thing about a circular walk is that the arrival point is the same as the departure location, so that is already easy to let go of ‘the end goal’. And it’s wonderful how the tour is embedded in a departure and arrival ritual and has many other ritual moments along the way. The route and nature show themselves to be a gentle teacher […]” Corine de Jong
