Annual report 2019: an eventful year
From our newsletter (sign up)

Report from a time when travel was still a matter of course:
– In 2019, 1,446 pilgrims registered.
– The highest number so far, without advertising or a lot of media attention.
– Most pilgrims come through friends or family.
Apparently, our story appeals and we find that encouraging!

In 2019 we organised:
– 24 (free) departure ceremonies

– 2 orientation afternoons for pilgrims
– 2 very cozy pilgrim drinks
– 1 ‘walking’ book presentation: Walking to Wisdom

Opinionated and connected
Here’s what we did back for the landscape in 2019:
– €1,523 in donations for culture and nature along the route
– 43 boxes for house sparrows with Vogelwerkgroep Nijmegen e.o.
– Two litter campaigns on the Waal beaches
– Opening ”Filosofenbrug’, restored pedestrian bridge with Cultuurfonds Rijk van Nijmegen, Pancake restaurant Duivelsberg, Devil’s trail, Staatsbosbeheer and B&B Pastorie Beek
Also: our leather pilgrim lace is now made of more durable cork. More.

Creativity and friends
Also in 2019, it was noticeable that pilgrims fill in our route very differently. Scientists call this ‘ritual creativity’.

We want to lovingly maintain that space for creativity. We do this based on the insight that our interests are deeply connected to each other and to nature. Will you help?
The Walk of Wisdom does not receive a subsidy and can only exist thanks to volunteers and the entry fee of starter packs and friends.
