Annual report 2017 published
As the Walk of Wisdom foundation, we look back on a good pilgrimage year in 2017. Read the annual report with financial statements: Annual Report 2017 Walk of Wisdom.
What does the annual report say?
The annual report is a justification of what we have done in 2017 to achieve our objectives and with what means.
Our goal is to develop one marked pilgrimage route of a week’s walk in every country of the world – and then connect them to each other. The route is separate from any religion and is set up as a ritual, where you turn off your phone and internet as much as possible to reflect on your life and place in the bigger picture.
Summary Annual Report 2017
In 2017 we worked on deepening and further publicising the pioneer route in the Netherlands. It was the year we celebrated our second anniversary. 1,187 pilgrims registered, almost double the number the year before.
We are satisfied with the monthly departure ceremonies and silent walks. With this, we have added an invitation to deepen our knowledge of the route. To strengthen our bond with the landscape, we have donated €1 for every pilgrim who signed up to nature and culture projects on the route, including the Stevenskerk, Natuurmonumenten, Geldersch Landschap and the Bird Protection.
There are now 35 to 50 volunteers active at the foundation. In 2017, the organisation and procurement costs amounted to €33,605,-. We are proud that we have been able to cover these costs in full with the help of registration fees and friend contributions. The Walk of Wisdom did not receive a grant in 2017. The income amounted to €40,115 so that we could supplement our reserve with €6,310 and for the time being are no longer dependent on pre-financiers for the purchase of materials.
To all the friends and pilgrims who make our work possible: thank you very much!
We feel supported in our aim to create a new, groundbreaking pilgrimage tradition.
