Version November 2017
General
The Walk of Wisdom is a small foundation with big plans based in Nijmegen. We are not a professional company, webshop or event agency and mainly run on the warm efforts of volunteers. It’s great if you approach us from that point of view.
Our core values are: freedom, respect and belonging.
The Walk of Wisdom is independent of any religion or political ideology. We are a not-for-profit organisation and want to keep the route accessible to people with limited financial resources.
Pilgrims determine the theme and pace of their journey, and it is not for nothing that we are nicknamed ‘path of your own wisdom’.
Responsibility
Anyone who registers for an event or ‘walk of wisdom’ is responsible for their own safety and arranges their own meals and overnight stays.
We do our best to prevent and correct mistakes, but the use of our (route) guide and materials such as the pin, pilgrim’s lace, bird rings, (work) books, etc. is at your own risk and you cannot hold our foundation liable for damage resulting from this use.
Shipping and returning materials
Materials or starter kits that you order through our pilgrim office will in principle be sent to you by a volunteer from the pilgrim office within three working days after receipt of payment. Please contact [email protected] if your order does not arrive or is incomplete.
If you are not satisfied with the materials, you can return them in the same envelope within seven working days by crossing out your own address and writing next to it: Return Sender, Stichting Walk of Wisdom, Pater Brugmanstraat 33, 6522 EH Nijmegen. We will then refund the purchase price.
Privacy
Contact details will not be shared with third parties without permission. Any telephone number will not be used for direct marketing.
Those who register as pilgrims are included in the pilgrim register. The data is only available to a limited number of volunteers and is not shared with third parties. Your data will always be removed from the register upon request.
Only if you give permission to do so, we will publish your name and place of residence in our quarterly overview of pilgrims who have completed the route.
For your consideration
Do you know the difference between a tourist and a pilgrim? A tourist consumes his surroundings, is looking for something outside of him and will complain if it does not meet his expectations. A pilgrim looks for a way in every environment and tries to solve things that go wrong.
Outdoor Code Nature Reserves
By registering for a ‘walk of wisdom’, you declare that you respect the outdoor code for the use of nature reserves that has been drawn up by nature organisations such as Staatsbosbeheer and Natuurmonumenten. The Outside Code consists of 5 lines:
· Be friendly, give each other space, and slow down.
· Feel responsible for your own behaviour towards nature and its users.
· Dare to call someone else to account for their behavior.
· Exercising in nature is safe, wear protection.
· Stay on the paths and give nature space
