A question of deepening

“Depth comes when you start to feel yourself, which is very different from thinking about yourself.”
Lidia van Engeland contributed to the development of our departure ceremonies and is regularly the master of ceremonies. In her work, she guides a short career path through the Questie Consult in which you investigate an issue that has a major impact on your life on the basis of five questions.
“The Walk of Wisdom goes in a round – that appeals to me. You can walk the route several times, you will experience it differently each time. Just like the seasons return, but you experience them differently every time. Every year, every round you go into a different way with new opportunities and possibilities.
At the moment I am walking the route myself in étappes with a group of friends. We have fun and every walk is a nice get-together. For me, this round is all about our connection. Funny thing was that in February we ended up in the middle of the carnival tour of Bergharen, a village on the route. It was A cheerful state of affairs with happy people. Which we walked through as pilgrims..! You can’t get a better grasp of the nature of our journey: life can be celebrated.
I’m going for a second round in the autumn. This time with my husband. We walk the route in one piece, divided over 8 walking days. The journey will be different, quieter and more connected to each other and nature.”

“Humans have many layers of feeling, which you often don’t have time for in everyday life. I like to do work where there is room for those layers of feeling. For example, at the Questie Consult I notice that many people are busy in their lives trying to solve something from the past. I’ve done that myself. As a child, I did a lot of things on my own, while I really wanted nothing more than to play with others. In my career after that, I spent a long time looking for how I could remain myself while collaborating with others.
The Walk of Wisdom is also a space where there is room for those hidden layers of feeling. It’s good to stop at moments in your life and find out what’s going on under the surface. The departure ceremonies prior to the tour invite you to deepen your experience. That’s why the role of master of ceremonies suits me.”
